Ticket Zone were 'Out & About' today on what can best described as an overcast day in Berkshire visiting the Showman's Show 2017 held at the Newbury Showground.
The Newbury Showground is a 145 acre green field location adjacent to Junction 13 off the M4 on the A34, heading north towards Oxford. The Showman Show is described as the 'only outdoor show of its kind in the UK' and this year marks its 34th season since it started in 1984.
About the Showman's Show
Today the show attracts nearly 4,500 visitors over two days and has in excess of 350 exhibitors, who showcase the most sophisticated structures, equipment, technology, services and entertainment demanded by those who work in the festival, outdoor event or live event industries.
Following my fast-track entry using the barcode on stored on my mobile phone, I continued to use the Showman Show App to locate the stands I wanted to visit.
I have been to this event a number of times and I would agree that it is an important date in the diary for trade suppliers from numerous diverse industries including anything such as portable loo hire, performance stages and ticketing.
It was good to see this year that a number of ticketing companies had invested in the event including Eventbrite, Ticket SRV, Eventree, The TicketSellers and Red Box.
The show was busy both inside the exhibition hall and outside in the showground and not even the weather could quell the sense of purpose everyone was showing.
Showman's Show highlights
The more unusual highlights of the day included the 'caravan' of camels; a full life size rhinoceros standing proud on top of a portable cabin and finally, finding the ultimate glamping tent (or was it the option of having my photo inside a giant snow globe).
In terms of meeting up with the relevant industry people to explore new opportunities, it was a journey well worth making.
Maybe we should consider being there for 2018 (maybe, just maybe).
